After spending four days in Las Vegas, we took a 2.5-hour drive to Zion National Park Lodge, the only hotel inside the park. As we arrived, we were amazed by the towering red rock cliffs, making the lodge look tiny in comparison. The stunning views had us feeling excited and in awe.
A Historic Retreat
Zion National Park has a rich history, with Native Americans living in the area for thousands of years. In the late 1800s, Mormon pioneers named it Zion, meaning “sanctuary.” The park became official in 1919, and the lodge opened in 1925.
A Cozy Welcome
Walking into the lodge felt like stepping into a warm mountain cabin. The friendly staff welcomed us as we checked in. A sign in the lobby reminded guests that Wi-Fi is only available in some areas, and there is little to no cell service. Instead of being bothered, we embraced the chance to unplug and enjoy nature.
Comfortable Rooms with a View
Zion National Park Lodge has 52 rooms, six suites, and 40 historic cabins. Rooms have modern comforts like satellite TVs, Wi-Fi, full bathrooms, and kitchenettes. The cabins offer a rustic charm with gas fireplaces but no TVs or Wi-Fi.
Dining at the Lodge
The lodge has two restaurants and a seasonal beer garden. The Red Rock Grill serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while the Castle Dome Café offers quick meals. During our winter visit, only the Red Rock Grill was open.
Outdoor Adventures
Zion Lodge is a great base for exploring the park. Popular hikes like Angel’s Landing and Sand Bench Trail are nearby. We also rented e-bikes and rode through the park, taking in breathtaking views.
