The 2025 World Happiness Report is out, and for the 8th year in a row, Finland has been named the happiest country on Earth! The main reason? Finnish people are kind, helpful, and trust each other deeply. Most people there believe that if they lost their wallet, a stranger would return it.
Finland scored 7.736 out of 10 on the happiness scale. Other Nordic countries like Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, and Norway also ranked high. Denmark came second, followed by Iceland, Sweden, and Norway in seventh place.
The report says that kindness, trust, and helping others matter more for happiness than just avoiding crime or making more money. In simple words, feeling safe and cared for by people around you makes life better.
Other fun facts: Finland has over 180,000 lakes and 179,000 islands! It’s also famous for its saunas and stunning nature.
For the first time ever, Costa Rica (6th) and Mexico (10th) made it into the top 10 happiest countries. But the U.S. dropped to 24th place, its lowest ever. Sadly, Afghanistan stayed at the bottom.
The report also mentioned that people have been helping each other less than they did during the pandemic, raising concerns for the future.
Experts now say that simple acts like sharing meals and trusting others can improve happiness even more than money or health alone.
