Social Media Checks – Student visa applicants (F, M, J visas) must make their social media accounts public and list all usernames used in the last 5 years. Consular officers may check posts for anything risky or inappropriate.

$250 Visa Fee – Starting October 2025, a new $250 “Visa Integrity Fee” will be added to your usual visa fees. For Indians, total visa costs may go up to around $473 depending on the type.

Stricter Interviews – Fewer applicants can skip in-person interviews. Most visa applicants will now need to meet consular officers in person, especially for tourist and business visas.

Passport Collection in Person – From August 2025, Indian applicants must collect their passports themselves from the embassy. Optional home delivery is available for Rs1,200.
