visa

If you’re planning to travel to the US, here are 4 important changes to know:

  1. Social Media Checks – Student visa applicants (F, M, J visas) must make their social media accounts public and list all usernames used in the last 5 years. Consular officers may check posts for anything risky or inappropriate.

  2. $250 Visa Fee – Starting October 2025, a new $250 “Visa Integrity Fee” will be added to your usual visa fees. For Indians, total visa costs may go up to around $473 depending on the type.

  3. Stricter Interviews – Fewer applicants can skip in-person interviews. Most visa applicants will now need to meet consular officers in person, especially for tourist and business visas.

  4. Passport Collection in Person – From August 2025, Indian applicants must collect their passports themselves from the embassy. Optional home delivery is available for Rs1,200.

These changes mean more paperwork, fees, and stricter checks, so plan ahead!
