The U.S. government has lowered Jamaica’s travel advisory from Level 3 (Reconsider Travel) to Level 2 (Exercise Increased Caution) as of May 29. This means Jamaica is now considered a bit safer for American travelers.

The drop in advisory is due to a decline in violent crime, especially in tourist areas. However, the U.S. warns that crime and limited healthcare are still concerns. Some places in Jamaica remain Level 4 (Do Not Travel) zones, especially in 11 specific parishes.

Key Safety Tips:

  • Don’t walk or drive at night

  • Avoid remote areas

  • Be alert and don’t resist robbery

  • Don’t bring guns or ammo – penalties are serious

  • Carry travel insurance and extra medications

Despite some risks, Jamaica’s stunning beaches, resorts, and vibrant culture continue to attract visitors.
