Veterans United Home Loans has just released its list of the Best Cities for Veterans to Live in 2025. After studying over 500 U.S. cities and asking veterans what they want in a place to live, Myrtle Beach-Conway-North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, took the No. 1 spot.
The list was created based on 23 factors, including:
Cost of living
Housing prices
Quality of life
Size of the veteran community
Myrtle Beach ranked high because of its affordable home prices (around $324,900), great healthcare, and a strong sense of community. It also offers many restaurants, coffee shops, and stores that are easy to access.
While the area scored well in healthcare, housing, and amenities, it did get low marks for:
Long commutes
Crime rates
Limited job opportunities
Despite this, Myrtle Beach stood out for its balance of affordability and lifestyle, making it a top choice for veterans.

Atlantic City-Hammonton, New Jersey
Lawrence, Kansas
Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Battle Creek, Michigan
