The 2025 J.D. Power North America Rental Car Satisfaction Study has a new winner. Enterprise Rent-A-Car ranked first in customer satisfaction with a score of 734 out of 1,000. Last year, National Car Rental was in first place, but this year Enterprise took the lead. Both companies are owned by Enterprise Mobility.

Bridget Long, Enterprise’s SVP of North American operations, said, “Our success comes from our amazing team who focus on delivering great experiences for our customers so they can enjoy every moment of their trip.”

Following Enterprise and National, the top five rental companies are:

  1. Enterprise

  2. National

  3. Advantage Rent a Car

  4. Sixt

  5. Hertz

The lowest-rated companies were Dollar, Fox Rent A Car, and Payless.

J.D. Power surveyed over 8,200 travelers who rented cars at airports in the past year. They looked at factors like ease of renting, trust, vehicle quality, staff service, price, and digital tools. They also found that customers can save over 7 minutes by skipping the counter and picking up the car directly from the lot.

Azari Jones from J.D. Power said, “Rental companies can boost satisfaction by offering clear information about direct pick-up and providing personalized service at the counter.”

With falling gas prices, more people are traveling by road. Experts suggest checking membership programs like AAA, airline programs, or Costco for rental discounts. Renting away from airports can sometimes save money, but not always in big cities like New York.
