Spending time near water is not just relaxing—it’s also good for your mental health. Science shows that listening to water sounds can reduce stress, and even touching water can improve your mood. That’s why a beach vacation can feel so refreshing. And the best part? You don’t need a passport to visit one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

According to a report by ScaryMommy, Maniniʻowali Beach on Hawaii’s Big Island has the clearest water in the U.S. This ranking was based on how often the word “clear” appeared in TripAdvisor reviews. Nearly one in five reviewers mentioned how clear the water is. Visitors can’t stop praising the beach. One reviewer said the water is beautiful and clear, with soft sand and lifeguards on duty. Another called it their favorite beach because of the crystal-clear blue water. One excited visitor shared that while snorkeling, they saw coral, colorful fish, and even a giant sea turtle swimming nearby.

This is not the first time Maniniʻowali Beach has received praise. TripAdvisor named it one of the top 20 beaches in the U.S. in 2014 and again in 2019. Clearly, this beach continues to impress travelers year after year. Maniniʻowali Beach is also known as Kua Bay and is part of Kekaha Kai State Park. The beach is famous for its soft white sand and clear turquoise water. Visitors love swimming, snorkeling, and boogie boarding here, saying the experience is unlike any other.

The beach has three small curved stretches of sand, separated by lava rocks. It’s not very large and is popular with both locals and tourists, so it’s best to arrive early. Early mornings usually have calmer water, which is perfect for swimming. There is very little natural shade, so bringing an umbrella is a good idea. If you visit during winter, you might even spot dolphins or whales swimming offshore. One TripAdvisor reviewer summed it up perfectly: “It’s picture perfect. The water is warm and crystal clear. I loved swimming and relaxing in this paradise.”
