The Westhampton SeaBreeze Motel first opened in 1956, during the golden age of American road trips. Back then, motor lodges were popular, and more tourists were coming to Long Island thanks to the growing Long Island Expressway. For decades, the SeaBreeze was loved by travelers looking for an affordable, comfortable stay — and it stayed open all year.
But over time, the motel started to look old. Other similar motels closed as the Hamptons became more modern and upscale. In 2023, the SeaBreeze was put up for sale.
That’s when Elizabeth Bakhash and Randall Stone bought it. Their goal: keep the charm of the original motel but give it a fresh, modern makeover. After a complete renovation, the property reopened in May 2025 as Three Ducks, a small, stylish boutique hotel.
What’s New at Three Ducks
The old motel look is gone. The rooms now have higher ceilings, bigger windows, and a clean, modern design. The original 12 rooms remain, but many have been reconfigured to offer more space and comfort.
A brand-new building, The Barn, now serves as the reception area, café, breakfast room, lounge, and boutique. The old parking lot has been moved, replaced with beautiful gardens filled with wildflowers and native plants.
The name “Three Ducks” is inspired by the famous 1930s Big Duck statue, a fun landmark in Suffolk County.
The Rooms
Three Ducks has 12 rooms and suites, each with its own little seating area outside. Instead of room keys, guests receive a door code by text message.
Inside, rooms are decorated in a soft Scandinavian style with light colors and custom wood furniture. Each room features:
