Nestled in the oak and pine forests of Virkhan village, about 50 km from Nainital, Bir Terraces offers a serene escape from city life and crowded hill stations. This three-bedroom homestay, built on an eight-acre estate, features stunning views of the Kumaon Himalayas, a yoga room, an attic, a badminton court, a cricket pitch, and a farm growing organic produce.
The Story Behind Bir Terraces
The homestay was originally built as a holiday home by Dushyant Vashisht’s father. Named after Dushyant’s grandfather, Mahabir Prasad Vashisht, it was thoughtfully constructed without cutting down any trees. The furniture is made from upcycled wood, and the property practices sustainable water harvesting.
Unique Experience and Activities
Guests can enjoy panoramic mountain views, play outdoor games, and relax in hammocks. The hosts recommend booking the entire cottage for complete privacy and seclusion.
Farm-to-Table Dining
With two acres dedicated to organic farming, the homestay serves meals made from homegrown produce. The menu, curated by co-host Avanti, includes local Kumaoni dishes and international favorites. Fresh wood-fired pizzas and traditional dal makhani are must-tries.
