Bora Bora is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and staying at The Westin Bora Bora Resort & Spa makes the experience even more special. This is the newest resort on the island, featuring the largest collection of overwater bungalows and a private beach.

A Stay to Remember

Sitting in my private plunge pool, I watched the sunset over Mount Otemanu, the highest point on the island. The calm waves, the clear blue water, and the breathtaking views made me realize just how magical Bora Bora is.

The resort is located where Le Méridien Bora Bora once stood but has been completely renovated and rebranded. It officially reopened in September 2024 with a fresh, luxurious feel. The property features 142 bungalows, including 128 overwater bungalows connected by a long boardwalk. Guests can use blue and pink bikes provided by the hotel to move around the resort freely.

The service here is outstanding. The staff remembered my coffee order after just one day. Snorkeling gear was delivered to my bungalow without me even asking. And at the spa, the masseuse used a special serum to help with my sunburn.

Stunning Bungalows

We stayed in the premium Otemanu overwater bungalow, which offered incredible views of the mountain. The bungalow had a glass floor panel, a large terrace, a private plunge pool, and steps leading straight into the water. The outdoor Bluetooth speaker was perfect for playing music during a sunset swim. The Westin Heavenly Bed was so comfortable that my mom ordered the pillows as soon as we got home!

Delicious Food and Drinks

The resort has three restaurants and three bars, each offering unique flavors:

  • Tipanier: A French-inspired restaurant with a breakfast buffet and seasonal dinner menu.
  • Varavara: Serves delicious poisson cru, a traditional Tahitian dish with raw tuna, coconut milk, and lime.
  • Maere: The resort’s fine dining restaurant, featuring a tasting menu with local ingredients.
  • Honu Tiki: A beachside bar with a daily happy hour.
  • Te Ava and ‘O’A: More relaxed dining spots with great drinks and food.

Fun Activities and Experiences

There’s never a dull moment at The Westin Bora Bora. The resort has the largest swimming pool in Bora Bora, complete with a swim-up bar and cabanas. Guests can enjoy stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, hydrofoil biking, and more.

The hotel also offers daily activities like:

  • Coconut palm weaving
  • Shell crafting
  • Flower crown making

For adventure seekers, the resort organizes off-property excursions like snorkeling, diving, and Jeep tours. My mom and I took a lagoon cruise where we swam with sharks and stingrays and had lunch on a tiny island.

Relaxing at the Spa

The Heavenly Spa by Westin is a peaceful retreat offering Polynesian and Asian-inspired treatments. Even though I had a sunburn, the staff made sure my massage was still relaxing and soothing. The resort also has a fitness center with yoga, Pilates, and Tahitian dance classes.

Family-Friendly Offerings

While Bora Bora is famous for honeymoons, this resort is also great for families. The Eco Center Bora Bora helps rescue injured sea turtles, offering tours and educational sessions for guests. During my visit, two turtles were being cared for before being released back into the lagoon.

Accessibility and Sustainability

The resort is wheelchair accessible, with ADA-compliant bungalows and ramps in public areas. The hotel is also focused on sustainability, using local ingredients in its restaurants and supporting marine conservation efforts.

Final Thoughts

The Westin Bora Bora Resort & Spa is truly a tropical paradise. Whether you’re looking for luxury, adventure, or relaxation, this resort has it all. From breathtaking views to delicious food and amazing experiences, it’s the perfect place for a dream vacation.
