In the heart of Florence, a new hidden gem has opened – The James Suite Hotel Firenze 1564. From the outside, it looks like just another old building, but once inside, it feels like one of the city’s most stylish new hotels.
The hotel is part of the Manfredi Collection, known for luxury stays in Italy. It has only 14 suites, giving it the feel of a private home. The building itself was once a palace, built in 1564 for the Cavagnari family. Today, architect James Cavagnari has turned his childhood home into a stunning hotel with a mix of old charm and modern design.
The Rooms
Each suite is unique, decorated with antiques, vintage pieces, and modern furniture. Some rooms even feature original frescoes from the 1600s. The large beds, luxury bathrooms, freestanding tubs, Dyson hairdryers, and Ortigia bath products make the stay extra special. Guests are welcomed with sparkling wine and sweets, refreshed daily.
Food & Drinks
The James Restaurant serves Mediterranean and Tuscan dishes, along with breakfast. The 1564 Lounge Bar is one of the highlights, with a creative cocktail menu and chic interiors mixing old fireplaces and modern décor. There’s also a rooftop terrace with amazing views of Florence.
Experiences
The hotel offers curated experiences like cooking classes, market tours, visits to leather workshops, silk mills, and fashion museums. Guests can even get private shopping sessions with Florence’s top designers.
Good to Know
The hotel doesn’t have a spa or gym, and while it allows children, it has a calm and mature vibe. Accessibility is limited, as some areas require stairs. On the positive side, the hotel focuses on sustainability with vintage décor, refillable toiletries, and no single-use plastics.
