A group of famous chefs is coming together for one special night to cook a delicious feast. But this time, it’s not just for their guests—it’s to raise money to provide school meals for 10,000 children in the upcoming academic year.
The high-profile dinner, called the Share Our Strength fundraiser, will feature top chefs preparing a multi-course meal. There will also be an auction where people can bid on exclusive items and experiences. The goal is to raise Rs 1 crore, and the Share Our Strength foundation will match this amount to double the impact.
Who’s Cooking?
The event is led by Sanjeev Kapoor, joined by Chintan Pandya, Varun Totlani, Hussain Shahzad, Mythrayie Iyer, and Vinesh Johny. Restaurateurs Gauri Devidayal and Aditi Dugar will co-chair the event, while comedians Kunal Vijayakar and Cyrus Broacha will entertain as auction hosts.
Fighting Hunger Worldwide
Share Our Strength, a US-based NGO, started nearly 40 years ago to help during Ethiopia’s famine. Later, they launched the No Kid Hungry campaign to fight child hunger in the US. Now, they are expanding globally, and India is a key focus.
In India, their first big step was helping build a kitchen in Nagpur, providing meals for 20,000 children daily. This project caught the attention of Sanjeev Kapoor, Gauri Devidayal, and Aditi Dugar, who saw how these meals helped students focus on their education and reach their goals.
The goal is to support organizations like Akshaya Patra, Annapurna Devi, Annamrita, and The Breakfast Revolution, helping them expand their reach and serve even more children.
Why Food Matters
Nutrition is the foundation of growth and success. Even in Mumbai, many schools do not prioritize healthy meals, but food plays a vital role in a child’s education and well-being. This fundraiser aims to change that.
A Unique Culinary Experience
Each chef will prepare two individual dishes—a pass-around snack and a plated meal. They will also collaborate on a communal dish. Chintan Pandya says his focus will be on rustic Indian cooking with integrity.
“Cooking is my skill, and this is how I can give back,” he adds. “We should all think about how we can use our talents to make the world better.”
