Traveling from Mumbai to Ratnagiri or Sindhudurg by road usually takes 10–12 hours, but soon there’s a faster option. Starting 1 September, the Maharashtra government will run a Roll-On, Roll-Off (Ro-Ro) ferry connecting Mumbai with the Konkan coast.
Key Details:
The ferry will run from Bhaucha Dhakka (Ferry Wharf) in Mumbai to Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.
Travel time: Mumbai to Ratnagiri – 3.5 hours, Mumbai to Sindhudurg – 5.5 hours.
The ferry speed is 25 knots, faster than the Mumbai–Alibaug ferry (11–15 knots).
It can carry 656 passengers, 50 cars, and 30 two-wheelers.
Ticket prices:
Economy: Rs2,500 per person
First Class: Rs9,000 per person
Vehicle fares: Rs600 for a bicycle, Rs6,000 for a car, Rs21,000 for a large bus
Jetties are ready at both ends to support the service.
