ToggleWhen I first started traveling, I discovered that the most stunning things are not only beautiful landscapes but also dynamic cities. Each city I went to had its own personality. They were dynamic and thrilling, artsy and cultural, elegant and over the top.
Here, in this article, I am going to share my experience visiting 5 most beautiful U.S states, like New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Las Vegas. I’ll let you know what I found, what I loved, the ideal times to go, and why, in my opinion, each of these places actually shows off the most beautiful side of the U.S. States
What Makes U.S. States So Stunning?
What’s most amazing, at least in my experience, about U.S. States and Territories is their incredible diversity. I could witness tall skyscrapers, calm beaches, long deserts, snowy mountains, and cute villages inside one country. Each state seemed to me a different world, each with its own personality, culture, and rhythm of life.
One more reason the U.S. States are so striking: the juxtaposition of natural beauty and modern cities. I could be exploring a national park in the morning or out on safari, and eating world-class meals or going to the theater in a major city at night. That mix of natural and urban life is what makes travel here exciting and never dull.
I was also highly impressed by the cultural diversity. In the U.S., people from all around the world live together with their traditions, food, languages, and festivals, so unique to each one of them! Variety: This variety proves that every place is different and interesting.
And lastly, it’s the scale of everything that makes it so memorable. Cities are larger, highways are longer, and the scenery seems to stretch forever. Traveling through U.S. States can sometimes even feel like traveling through other countries, and that’s what makes the journey so beautiful and unique.
1. New York City: The Energy of U.S States at Its Peak
My first day in NYC, I knew exactly why people like to dub it “The City That Never Sleeps”. Of all the U.S. states I visited, this city seemed to be the pulse of the nation.
As soon as I looked up the moment I entered Times Square, it was like daytime with these bright lights and large screens, and so many people from every corner of the world. It felt electric. It didn’t matter what time it was; the city buzzed.
One of the most emotional experiences for me was a visit to the Statue of Liberty. Standing there, I felt in touch with history. When I saw it, I thought again of the millions who had made their way to God’s busy acre in search of a better life.
When I was tired of the noise, I wandered into Central Park. It was peaceful, green, and refreshing. It was mind-boggling to think how such a peaceful place could exist in the middle of the city.
What I Loved Most:
when I ponder what makes U.S. States so wonderful, I know that it cannot be just one thing; it must be a heady mix of nature, culture, history, scale, and lifestyle. Each time I drove from one state to another, I felt like I had entered a whole new world. Here are some of the best ones (from personal experience) that explain why U.S. States are so stunning and unforgettable:
Incredible Natural Diversity:
The first thing that struck me was the contrast in worlds. In the U.S., I experienced:
- Snow-covered mountains
- Tropical beaches
- Deserts
- Thick forests
- Massive lakes
- Wide open plains
I could be at the ocean one day, and a couple of days later, I’m hiking in the mountains. The natural beauty is different from one state to the next. Some feel tranquil; others wild and adventurous. This constant flux is what makes travel so fun.
Cities That Feel Like Different Worlds:
- Another reason the U.S. States is so beautiful is because of its cities, which cover every corner of the country. Every city has a different vibe.
- Other cities are quick, buzzing, and bursting with skyscrapers. Some of them are arty, chill, or historical. I loved that each city had its own identity, its own food, accent, music, and way of life. Moving between the two was just shy of crossing a border rather than traveling between states.
Mix of Modernity and the Olden Times:
- What struck me the most was how U.S. States blend modern innovation with rich history. One second, I could have futuristic buildings and high-end technology in my sight. In the next, I find myself strolling through historic quarters or past monuments and in museums that tell stories centuries old.
- This combination of old and new enriches the experience. It’s like you are getting at the past and the future simultaneously.
Cultural Diversity Everywhere:
States have citizens from everywhere. This diversity is visible in:
- Food
- Festivals
- Languages
- Art
Endless Entertainment Options:
U.S. States blow me away for another reason, too; there are an infinite number of things to do. Whatever kind of traveler you are, there is something for you:
- Adventure activities
- Theme parks
- Museums and galleries
- Music festivals
- Sports events
- Road trips
- National parks
You can hit the beach, ramble in nature preserves, party at nightclubs, or shop in world-class venues, all on one visit.
The Sheer Size and Scale:
- The size of U.S. States is something you don’t really grasp until you are there. The highways are enormous, the cities huge, the horizons boundless. You can still be in the same state after driving for a few hours sometimes.
- By virtue of its scale, everything is part of a grand journey. Nothing feels as cinematic and memorable, at least not to me, as a road trip.
- With so many places to go and things to do, the last thing you should be doing is worrying about what your child is doing.
My favorite thing about them is flexibility. You can:
- Take guided tours
- Travel solo
- Go on a luxury vacation
- Plan a budget trip
- Rent a car and spend the summer driving across states
2. Los Angeles: Glamour and Sunshine of the U.S. States
If New York is hustle and energy, Los Angeles is sunshine and glamour. In California, this city is almost otherworldly in how much it feels like something out of a movie.
I couldn’t help referring to my list of famous-name stars as I walked on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It felt surreal. Living near the mecca of movies, I learned to understand how a US State effects world cinema.
I took a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood as well. It was fun, exciting, and family-friendly. I loved the behind-the-scenes studio tour.
In the evening, I visited Santa Monica Beach. It was a peaceful and beautiful place to watch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. The golden sky and cool breeze made it unforgettable.
What I Loved Most:
When I went to Los Angeles, I finally understood why it is a symbol of the U.S. States: Strenght glamour, and creativity, one of the most amazing trips that I’ve lived. I loved each of these religious succulents. Here’s why:
Celebrity Home Tours:
What I found to be one of the most thrilling experiences was when we got a celebrity homes tour of Hollywood and Beverly Hills. The large mansions behind tall gates that we would see as we drove were like something out of a movie to me. And while there isn’t much to see beyond the gates, just knowing celebrities inhabit those mansions keeps it exciting.
Beach Walks and Coastal Vibes:
I des piked in Santa Monica and Venice Beach. Street performers, cyclists, and the cool breeze of the ocean made each night unlike any other. It felt restful and brisk all at once. Seeing surfers and families on the beach brought back to me how well some States integrate city life with nature.
Theme Parks and Entertainment:
Los Angeles is such an entertainment mecca. “Going to the theme parks like Universal Studios was one of the best parts of my visit. The ride-based attractions, alongside the studio tours and live shows, were thrilling and immersive. It’s an ideal getaway for families, couples, and even solo adventurists who are looking to have fun.
Best Time to Visit:
The favorite time of year to spend in Los Angeles, based on my own personal experience, is from March through May and again from September until November.
- Its weather is mild, and it never becomes oppressively hot.
- Tourist crowds are thinner than in peak summer.
- Hotel rates are perhaps a shade less dear.
- It’s perfect for sightseeing, beach days, and other outdoor activities.
- The weather is more moderate and pleasant at this time of year!
- Ideal Stay Duration
I found that 2–3 days was plenty of time to hit all the major highlights in a relaxed way.
In that time, I was able to:
- Explore Hollywood and Beverly Hills
- Visit a theme park
- Relax at the beach
- Enjoy shopping and local dining
Of course, if you wish to visit nearby attractions or take day trips, a longer stay might be necessary, but 2–3 days made for a great city experience.
3. Chicago: Architecture and Culture of U.S States
Chicago turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It became more than just the filming location when, on cue, three stars fittingly appeared in the sky over Chicago (a k a the Windy City), situated alongside Lake Michigan with magnificent skyline vistas.
Millennium Park was one of the places I particularly loved. It was amazing to see the shiny sculpture known as “The Bean” (officially Cloud Gate). It’s a really nice reflection of the city skyline.
I also stopped by the Willis Tower Skydeck. It was both terrifying and thrilling to be standing on a glass floor high above the city.
The city’s architecture river cruise was something I can only highly recommend. It explained to me why Chicago is one of the most beautiful cities in U.S States because of its architecture.
And, of course, I wanted to taste Chicago’s legendary deep-dish pizza. It was a heavy, cheesy meal and very filling!
What I Loved Most
When I reflect on my period in Los Angeles, I pretty much feel it embodies the glitzy and cool essence of Stunning places. The city has a unique energy, laid back yet exhilarating, excessive but accessible. Here’s a closely detailed look at what I loved the most, personally:

- You can’t peek inside the homes, though the experience itself is glamorous.
It provided me with a closer look at the film industry lifestyle that has long made Los Angeles famous around the world. This was one of the times that made me realize why so many people say that U.S States are a force to be reckoned with in entertainment.
Beachwalks: relaxed & fresh Sea life at its best

- “It was absolutely beautiful and peaceful walking along Santa Monica Beach during sunset.

You could extend it to 4–5 days if you’d like to explore the surrounding areas, such as San Diego, and do more scenic coastal drives.
It taught me that States in the U.S can be glamorous, creative, relaxed, and exciting all at once. It’s a city of innumerable dreams, where the sunrises are magical, and the performances never end. It’s just pure symbolism to me for the incredible diversity that makes traveling across the U.S. States such a memorable experience.
4. Washington, D.C: History and Power of U.S States
Washington, D.C., it struck me as soon as I arrived, was a different world. It was calmer but powerful. The city is the Capital of U.S States.
One of the most powerful walks for me was along the National Mall. I saw the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, and the United States Capitol.
Each monument told a story. Seeing the reflecting pool from the Lincoln Memorial was emotional. It brought me back to important times in this country.
One of the greatest things about Washington, D.C. is that many museums are free, including the Smithsonian Institution museums. I would lose hours to exploring art, history, and science.
What I Loved Most:
When I was in Washington, D.C. And to be honest, my visit has led my interest into the history and leadership that have formed U.S States. I saw some of them during our campaign trail and experienced breathtaking moments. The city doesn’t have the snap and sparkle of others, but it stayed with me all night long. Here’s what I loved the most:
Monument Tours:
- Strolling around the monuments was one of the most important aspects of my journey. I visited the Lincoln Memorial, the White House, and the United States Capitol.
- Every location has an important story to tell about America’s history and its leaders. I was taken by their emotion, which I could see brought out from standing in front of these monuments, and their spirit to remember the history of this country and what we represent. The National Mall area is so easy to walk around, and every monument is near each other, so sightseeing is a breeze.
Museum Visits:
- One thing that I loved about Washington, D.C. was the free access to most museums. The Smithsonian Institution’s museums are especially spectacular.
- I went to museums of all kinds of things: history, space, art.” They were all informative and well-organized. I can waste a lot of time learning stuff. It not only made my trip fun, but it also made it educational.
Cherry Blossom Season:
- If you come in the spring, you may find the cherry blossoms in full bloom. And this is the time of year when the trees around the Tidal Basin burst into soft pink bloom. It’s warm but pleasant, and the whole city is gorgeous. It was so special and peaceful walking under the cherry blossoms. It is absolutely one of the prettiest things I have seen stateside.
Best Time to Visit:
- March to May: Warm weather and the cherry blossoms typically flower during this period.
- Sep-Oct: The weather is pleasant, and it’s less crowded than in Summer.
- The sightseeing is also much more pleasant these months.
Ideal Stay Duration:
- I only needed 1–2 days for the highlights. Because most of the monuments and museums are so near one another, you can easily hit the highlights in a short visit. If you like museums and want to explore further, you can hang out longer.
Washington, D.C., opened my eyes to the historic and cultural power that is the reason why U.S States are so powerful around the world. It’s a city that might seem quieter than others, but it delivers knowledge, respect, and lasting memories.
5. Las Vegas: Entertainment Capital of U.S States
Las Vegas was unlike any city I had been to in the States. It’s just bold, it’s dramatic, and it has to be big.
Sucking in the sea of cheesy neon and grand titillation, walking down the Las Vegas strip at night really felt like entering a world of fantasy. The lights, the music, and the energy were all just a lot, in the very best way.
I saw the infamous Bellagio Fountains show. The water, dancing to music and lights, was magical.
I took a day trip to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas, too. The visit to one of the world’s natural wonders made my trip even more memorable.
What I Loved Most:
As soon as I got off the plane in Las Vegas, I knew it was unlike anywhere else I had visited. It was bold and brassy and there to bop. That’s how I velvet kissed the city that showed me most U.S. states, jaw-dropping can also be fun and theatrical. Here’s what I loved the most:
Nightlife and World-Class Shows:
- Vegas is a whole new city at night. After dark, strolling along the Strip was a magical experience.
- The whole street lights up with bright neon signs.
- There is an energetic feel with music playing, performances happening, and crowds cheering.
- I tuned in for live performances of music, dance, magic, and acrobatics.
The shows were as professional and high-quality. Each of the hotels had its own kind of show, so good or not, there was always something happening. Even strolling and watching the famous fountain shows was a good time.
Luxury Hotels and Grand Experiences:
- The size and look of the hotels really stunned me.
- Most hotels have an interesting theme and an amazing interior.
- Others are more like miniature cities, where asides from shopping centers and restaurants, you’ll find casinos.
- The decorations, the lights, and everything architectural are big and impressive.
You can actually walk through these hotels and enjoy the decor even if you aren’t lucky enough to be staying in one of their luxury suites. It just feels glamorous and over-the-top in a fun way.”
Day Trips from The Strip: Hoover Dam and The Grand Canyon
- Las Vegas is more than just a party town. And I loved the natural attractions nearby.
- I went on a day trip to Hoover Dam, which was amazing in its scale and engineering.
- The most memorable part of my trip was visiting the Grand Canyon.
It was breathtaking to see the Grand Canyon in person. Watching the ginormous cliffs and valleys around me, I realized how beautiful U.S States are outside city life. It was the perfect juxtaposition between entertainment and nature.”
Best Time to Visit:
- March-April-May: Warm without being hot.
- September-November: It’s brisk but pleasant for sightseeing.
The city is in the desert, so a visit during these cooler months of late fall through winter can make your trip more comfortable. Summer in Las Vegas can be scorching.
Ideal Stay Duration:
- I found one to two days plenty of time to see the best Las Vegas has to offer.
- Walk along the Strip at night
- Watch a live show
- Explore luxury hotels
- Make a day trip to the surroundings
If you like nightlife and entertainment, you can certainly stay longer, but for a robust, yet ‘packed’ visit, I found two days was enough.
Final Thoughts
As I reflect on my journey, each city revealed a new side of U.S States:
- New York City was ambitious and energetic.
- Los Angeles brought creativity and sun.
- Chicago showed architecture and culture.
- Washington, D.C., displayed history and leadership.
- Las Vegas projected entertainment and brashness.
- But they are the most amazing adventures I took part in, driving through the states of the US.
America is not a single place. It’s an anthology of tales, terrains, and ways of life. That’s what I love about U.S. states; it doesn’t matter if they have an airport or not.
If you are planning your trip, I recommend visiting 2 or 3 cities at once. An East coasttrip (New York + Washington, D.C.) and a West Coast trip (Los Angeles + Las Vegas). Either way, you will have the most visually breathtaking side of U.S States.
