Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin, famous for using rainwater from one of the wettest places on Earth, has launched a new gin called Mountain Berry & Cherry Blossom. This limited-edition gin celebrates Meghalaya’s cherry blossom season and brings a unique taste of India’s Northeast to gin lovers.

Instead of traditional British sloe berries, Cherrapunji uses Sohiong fruits, also called mountain berries, which grow wild in Meghalaya. These sweet-tart berries give the gin a fruity flavor. Handpicked cherry blossom petals and chamomile are added, giving the gin soft floral notes and a delicate pink color during November and December.Other local ingredients include Khasi mandarin peels, Assam lemon (kaji nemu), Eastern Himalayan juniper, and taro root, which makes the gin smooth and silky. It is unsweetened, uncolored, and preservative-free, letting the natural flavors of Meghalaya shine.

Taste & Serving:
Mountain Berry & Cherry Blossom gin tastes fruity, floral, and lightly tart, with notes of berry, citrus, and juniper. The founder, Mayukh Hazarika, suggests enjoying it with sparkling water to highlight the pink hue or as a “sonic” drink with soda and tonic. It’s designed to be enjoyed on its own, allowing the seasonal ingredients to stand out.

Bottle Design:
The gin comes in a stainless-steel bottle with a built-in 30ml jigger, designed by artist Rashi Dev. A 1-liter version with 30ml and 60ml jiggers will also be available for duty-free purchase.
