The historic Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is adding a brand-new route from Paris to Italy’s Amalfi Coast. Famous for its luxurious train cars, five-star service, and gourmet dining, the train brings the charm of the 1920s golden age of travel into the modern day.
Passengers on this new route will enjoy an overnight journey from Paris to Pompeii. After exploring the historic site, they’ll take a special boat ride to Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, in Positano, where they’ll stay for two nights in a five-star hotel experience. Both the train and hotel are part of the Belmond brand, owned by LVMH.
The Paris-to-Amalfi Coast route begins on May 4, 2026, and is open for reservations. Tickets cost about £8,600 (around $11,479) per person, including meals, transfers, and excursions.
Pascal Deyrolle, general manager of Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, said, “This journey offers guests a unique way to experience one of Italy’s most celebrated coastlines, with its cliffs, villages, and sea views, all in the luxury of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.”
The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express currently runs several routes across Europe, including Paris to Portofino, Paris to Budapest, and Geneva to Venice. It was named the No. 4 best train in the world in Travel + Leisure’s 2025 awards. Ticket prices for other routes range from £3,530 ($4,710) to over £63,000 ($84,066) per passenger depending on the cabin and trip.
