Nestled in Nileshwar, Kasaragod, Kerala, Poothali Paddyview Homestay is a heritage home surrounded by peaceful paddy fields. The name Poothali means ‘waterlilies’, a common sight in the area.
About the Homestay
Walking through shaded coconut and mango trees, you reach a traditional Kerala home with a mix of Kerala and Tulunadu styles. Antique furniture, teakwood boxes, and recycled wood décor make the interiors unique. Local art, murals, Theyyam faces, and handcrafted souvenirs give the home a cultural touch.
The homestay has three air-conditioned rooms, each with private bathrooms. Rooms are simple and cozy with red oxide floors, woven mats, brass lamps, and wooden desks. Guests can relax on the wide veranda at sunset, enjoying views of fireflies and paddy fields.
The dining area is filled with antique furniture, and all meals are prepared using fresh ingredients from local farms. Traditional Kerala dishes like puttu with kadala curry, dosas with coconut chutney, kanji with payar, appam with vegetable stew, and special treats like ney pathal with chicken curry are served. Guests can also enjoy a traditional Kerala sadhya, prepared by local grandmothers and farmers.
