I’ve been pondering this question for months, unsure where to start. The phrase “every woman should travel solo” didn’t sit right with me, and after a lot of reflection, I realized why: She doesn’t have to.
Sure, solo travel has confidence-building and empowerment benefits. I’ve experienced them firsthand after years of exploring alone. But just because something has benefits, doesn’t mean everyone must do it. We already face enough societal “shoulds”—we should study, we should eat healthy, we should travel solo. What if some women prefer traveling in groups or simply don’t enjoy traveling at all? And that’s okay!
Let’s drop the “should” and instead say: Every woman could travel solo, if she wants to. If you feel that pull to explore, go for it! You’ve got the power to make it happen, and whatever your journey, you’ll return stronger. But remember, it’s your choice.
