If you’re looking for happiness in the U.S., Hawaii is the top place to be. A new report by WalletHub studied all 50 states and checked things like depression rates, income growth, unemployment, and overall life satisfaction. After comparing the results, Hawaii was ranked the happiest state in the country.
Why Hawaii?
People in Hawaii live longer, stay active, and feel productive every day. Almost 72% of adults say they are active daily, and about 85% say they are in good health. Hawaii also has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country at 2.4%. Many homes earn more than $75,000 a year, which reduces stress — although the cost of living in Hawaii is high. A report also showed that not everyone enjoys equal access to health and basic needs, especially Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders.
Maryland came in second place thanks to a strong economy and low unemployment. It also ranked high in emotional and physical well-being. Nebraska took the third spot, known for strong economic security and a stable lifestyle.
Experts say happiness depends on where you live. Good weather, a healthy lifestyle, strong support systems, and a good balance between work and life can make a big difference.
