When winter gets cold, some people head to the mountains, but many prefer to escape to warm beaches. However, long winter trips can get expensive. Vacation rental site HomeToGo studied home prices and found the most budget-friendly warm destinations in the U.S. with median nightly stays under $200.
Englewood, Florida took the No. 1 spot.

Why Englewood Is the Top Pick

Englewood is a small town on the Gulf of Mexico, about 30 miles south of Sarasota. With winter highs in the mid-70s and lots of sunshine, it’s perfect for “snowbirds” looking to escape the cold.
The median nightly stay is just $64 per person, making it warm, beautiful, and affordable.

The area has natural attractions like:

  • Cedar Point Environmental Park with pine flatwoods

  • Oyster Creek Regional Park with boardwalks through mangroves, great for bird-watching

However, some beaches in Charlotte County — including Englewood — may be closed due to hurricane damage. Visitors can check updated park information at charlottecountyfl.org.
