More European countries are now offering visas for people who work remotely. After Estonia started this trend, Slovenia has become the latest country to launch a digital nomad visa. The visa was introduced on 21 November 2025 and is meant to attract remote workers from around the world, including India.

Slovenia is a beautiful European country located between Italy, Austria, and Croatia. It is known for its mountains, peaceful lifestyle, historic wineries, and charming cities. With this new visa, remote workers can live in Slovenia for up to one year, as long as they work for companies or clients based outside the country.

Although the visa cannot be renewed, it offers a big benefit. Slovenia is part of the Schengen Area, which means visa holders can travel to 29 European countries for up to 90 days without extra visas. Digital nomads can also bring their family members along. Many may choose to work from cafés in Ljubljana, enjoying riverside views, historic buildings, parks, and museums.

Who can apply for Slovenia’s digital nomad visa?

To apply, you must be 18 years or older and hold a valid non-EU passport. You should be working remotely as an employee, freelancer, or business owner for a company based outside Slovenia.
Applicants must earn at least €3,200 per month, which is twice Slovenia’s average monthly salary. A clean criminal record and international health insurance are also required.
