Spain is one of the most visited countries in the world, with almost 100 million tourists every year. But with so many people visiting, the country faces a challenge: how to welcome tourists while still protecting the culture, nature, and local life.
Spain wants travelers to feel at home, but it also wants to avoid too many crowds, pollution, and losing its traditions.
Even with all this, Spaniards are proud of their country. They love sharing their amazing food, long history, beautiful buildings, and fun way of life. Whether it’s eating late meals, dancing until sunrise, or enjoying long chats after lunch (called sobremesas), Spain is full of joy and passion.
From famous names like Rosalía and Almodóvar to tasty tapas and world-known football teams, Spain is bursting with energy and culture.
But there’s more to Spain than beaches and sunshine. The Balearic Islands like Mallorca and Ibiza are peaceful and calm in the off-season. The north of Spain has green mountains, cliffs, and hearty food. The central plains are full of olive trees and quiet villages. You can even ski in January in the Sierra Nevada and later swim in the sea!
In our Off-Season travel list, we’ve included Ibiza, Madrid, Mallorca, Menorca, and Seville – all shared by locals who love these places. We didn’t include Barcelona and the Canary Islands this time to protect them from too much tourism.
Don’t miss hidden gems like Galicia, Asturias, and Cantabria in the north. Or cities like Salamanca and Burgos with their stone buildings. Or natural wonders like Sierra de Grazalema and Picos de Europa.
Spain is beautiful in every season – spring, summer, autumn, or winter. Come visit, enjoy it, and please take care of it. Spain will take care of you in return.
