Keystone, Colorado is having a big year. It recently became Colorado’s newest town, and now it has opened the first ski resort in North America for the 2025/2026 winter season. Keystone opened its slopes on Oct. 25, beating Arapahoe Basin by one day. This is the first time since 1997 that Keystone has opened first.
At the opening, skiers enjoyed two miles of smooth trails on Schoolmarm and Silver Spoon, with night skiing available too. Keystone usually stays open until mid-April.
Once fully open, Keystone will offer 3,000+ acres of ski terrain, 21 lifts, and 140 runs. It’s a great resort for families and all skill levels, with almost half the mountain made for expert skiers.
Keystone is also preparing for a luxury upgrade. The new Kindred Resort will open restaurants and public areas in December and start taking overnight guests in January. The resort has 107 rooms, 95 residences, a heated pool, spa, kids’ club, and Keystone’s first sushi restaurant. It’s located right next to the River Run Gondola, making it easy for guests to access the slopes.
Keystone is part of the Epic Pass program, which gives unlimited skiing at Keystone and many other mountains. Kids under 12 can ski free at Keystone, making it a popular family destination.
