In 2023, Ritu and Avinandan Banerjee were at a bar in East London when they imagined a place they wanted to open. Usually, such ideas fade away the next day, but two years later, Nutcase Etc. is now a reality.
A Unique Bar in a Surprising Spot
Located at 91, Manoharpukur Rd, in South Kolkata, Nutcase Etc. stands out. It’s in an old 109-year-old building with art deco designs and vintage windows. It feels like stepping into a trendy bar in Berlin or Brooklyn, yet it’s right here in Kolkata.
Small Space, Big Vibes
This bar is tiny—only 650 sq ft with 35 seats. Most seats are around the 25-ft-long bar, while a cozy corner called the ‘Games Room’ has custom board games on the tables. It’s a fun twist on the classic Snakes and Ladders, using Kolkata’s famous bars as ladders and police checkpoints as snakes.
Crazy Cocktails and Tasty Snacks
Nutcase Etc. is all about bold and creative drinks. From classics like the Old Fashioned to wild ideas like Tangra Town, which mixes tequila with chicken broth and bell peppers, they have it all. There’s also a no-alcohol menu for those who want to enjoy fun drinks without the buzz.
If you’re hungry, try the fluffy baos, crab dip, or local favorites like jhuri bhaja (potato fries) and five-spice smoked eggs. For a bigger meal, they serve comforting Afterparty Noodles and Umami Fried Rice.
