For the Parsi community, Navroz (New Year) is all about good thoughts, good words, good deeds—and of course, delicious food. From dhansak to custard, every meal is brought to life with iconic products from brands that have been around for over a hundred years. Here are some legendary Parsi food brands that have stood the test of time.
Kolah’s Vinegar
Since 1885, Kolah’s from Navsari, Gujarat, has been making sugarcane vinegar with a perfect sweet-sour balance. It’s a secret ingredient in many Parsi dishes like patra ni macchi and masalas. Today, they also make pickles, ice cream, and spices, but their vinegar is still the star.
Parsi Dairy Farm
Started in 1916 by Nariman Ardeshir in Mumbai, this dairy brand became famous for its rich milk, creamy kulfi, paneer, and Indian sweets. From malai to fruit kulfis like mango and sitaphal, their products are known for unmatched quality.
Pallonji’s & Duke’s
For Parsis, no festive meal is complete without raspberry soda. Pallonji’s began in 1865 in Nagpur, while Duke’s started in 1889 in Mumbai. Duke’s drinks like Mangola and ice cream soda became classics. Today, PepsiCo owns Duke’s but still keeps the old favourites alive.
B. Merwan & Co.
This iconic Irani bakery on Mumbai’s Grant Road opened in 1914. Famous for mawa cakes, bun-maska, and khari biscuits, it’s a must-visit for chai lovers and sweet-toothed Bombay locals.
Dorabjee’s
Pune’s beloved grocery store began in 1911 as a small shop. It introduced western foods like cheese, cold cuts, and sauces to the city, along with Parsi snacks and desserts. Even today, Dorabjee’s remains a favourite for both gourmet and local products.
These brands are more than just businesses—they’re part of Parsi culture and India’s food history.
