Canto de la Playa, a quiet and hidden beach on Saona Island in the Dominican Republic, has just been named the No. 1 beach in the Caribbean by The World’s 50 Best Beaches.

This beautiful beach has soft white sand, tall palm trees, and super clear blue water. It’s peaceful, not crowded, and perfect for swimming or relaxing. The water is calm and great for snorkeling, with colorful coral reefs just offshore.

Where Is It?

Canto de la Playa is on Saona Island, off the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic. To reach it from Punta Cana, you’ll need to:

  • Take a 50-minute bus ride to Bayahibe

  • Then hop on a boat to reach the island

The beach is part of Cotubanamá National Park, known for its coral reefs, mangroves, lagoons, and wildlife.

What Makes It Special?

  • No hotels or beach bars

  • No restaurants or restrooms

  • No crowds or noise

  • Just pure nature and beauty

The sand is extra soft, and many say the water is the clearest and most turquoise in the Caribbean.

How to Visit

Most people join a group boat tour or a private catamaran trip. If you’re not on a tour, you can hike from the small village Mano Juan or hire a private boat.
Just bring your own snacks, water, sunscreen, and snorkel gear—there are no shops or facilities at the beach.

Canto de la Playa was voted the best beach in the Caribbean and ranked 6th in the world, behind stunning beaches in places like French Polynesia, Greece, Thailand, and the Philippines.
