Buying a house is a huge decision, and with home prices rising, it’s more important than ever to pick the right spot. In 2024, the median home price in the U.S. reached $419,200, up 17% since 2020!
To help homebuyers find the best areas, Opendoor Brokerage shared a list of the “most popular ZIP codes and hidden gems” based on homes sold quickly (within 90 days of listing) in 2024.
The winner? Katy, Texas, just outside Houston! Katy moved up from second place last year and became the hottest zip code. Houston’s affordable housing market helped Katy top the list.
Texas and Florida showed up the most in the rankings, but smaller southern towns like Summerville, South Carolina, and Clarksville, Tennessee, are also becoming favorites. Many people are now choosing peaceful suburbs over busy cities but still want to stay close to jobs and activities.
Other hot spots include San Antonio, New Braunfels, Forney, and Kyle in Texas, Yukon in Oklahoma, and Parrish in Florida.
As for hidden gems? That title went to Harrah, Oklahoma, a small town near Oklahoma City, where fewer than 7,000 people live.
