Traveling on a budget? Then you’ll want to know which places cost the most before planning a trip. A new study by GOBankingRates has found the five most expensive tourist cities in the U.S., and the top spot goes to Aspen, Colorado.

To find the most expensive places, the study looked at 91 popular U.S. cities and narrowed them down to 55. They checked prices for things like hotel stays, flights, food, and even beer for two adults staying for three nights.

Aspen – A Luxury Year-Round Destination

Aspen is famous for skiing, but it’s also a popular summer spot with hiking, biking, and cultural events. Whether it’s winter or summer, Aspen stays expensive. According to the study, a 3-day trip for two will cost around $2,708.

Here’s the cost breakdown:

  • Flights: $1,300+

  • Hotel (3 nights): $791

  • Food: $510

  • Beer: Pricey too!

Other Expensive U.S. Destinations
After Aspen, the other four costly cities are:

  1. Santa Barbara, California

  2. Anchorage, Alaska

  3. Bar Harbor, Maine

  4. Fairbanks, Alaska

Cheapest Destinations? Try Florida!

Florida turned out to be the most affordable state to visit, with average trip costs around $1,630. California also made the list of cheaper states. And if you love beer, the cheapest one can be found in Branson, Missouri—just $3.50 on average!
