America is getting ready to welcome some incredible new museums over the next few years, making big cities like New York and Washington, D.C., even more exciting to visit.

Climate Museum in New York City

The Climate Museum, the first of its kind in the U.S., will open its permanent location in 2029 near Hudson Yards on NYC’s West Side. Spanning 24,000 square feet across three floors, it will showcase exhibits, events, and workshops focused on climate change and solutions for a sustainable future.

Lincoln Memorial Visitor Center in Washington, D.C.

By 2026, the Lincoln Memorial will unveil a brand-new visitor center underneath it. This 15,000-square-foot space will feature exhibits, multimedia presentations, and a bookstore, highlighting the history of the memorial and its role in civil rights demonstrations. The $69-million project will be completed just in time for the U.S. 250th anniversary celebrations.

National Geographic Museum of Exploration

Also opening in Washington, D.C., in 2026 is the National Geographic Society’s Museum of Exploration. With over 100,000 square feet, this museum will offer immersive exhibitions, a state-of-the-art theater, and interactive experiences.
