I sailed on the Celebrity Apex toward Norway’s Geirangerfjord and the experience was breathtaking. My cabin was on the same side as the waterfalls, and the floor-to-ceiling window made it perfect for watching snow-melt waterfalls tumble down cliffs, surrounded by snowy mountains and charming villages.
Celebrity Apex is a modern, stylish cruise ship with 1,467 staterooms and suites, amazing art, and unique features. There are hot tubs on giant martini glass stems and the Magic Carpet, a cantilevered platform that moves up and down the side of the ship, serving as a bar or tender platform. The Retreat area is for suite guests, with a private pool, lounge, and a gourmet restaurant by chef Daniel Boulud.
Staterooms
I stayed in an Infinite Veranda AquaClass cabin with an indoor balcony, spa access, exclusive restaurant Blu, and other perks. Suites have outdoor balconies, butlers, drinks, laundry, tips, and Wi-Fi. Budget travelers can choose inside cabins or window cabins.
Dining & Bars
The ship has four main restaurants, buffet, and cafés, plus specialty restaurants for extra cost. I enjoyed Blu, Fine Cut, Eden, and Rooftop Garden Grill. There are many bars, including Sunset Bar, Martini Bar, and rooftop lounges. Drinks are premium priced, but packages make it worth it.
Cruise Routes
Apex sails from Southampton, UK, exploring Norway, Iceland, the British Isles, and the Mediterranean. There are also Caribbean cruises from Florida. Exciting special trips include a solar eclipse cruise in Portugal and Spain in August 2026.
Shore Excursions
Excursions range from coach tours, Flam Railway rides, chocolate-making, kayaking, cycling, zip-lining, and RIB boats. I visited waterfalls in Geiranger and Flam, including climbing 327 steps alongside Storfossen waterfall.
Entertainment & Amenities
The ship offers music quizzes, ballroom dancing, wine tastings, spa treatments, cycling, Pilates, and more. Art lovers can enjoy 4,000 pieces of onboard art, while naturalists provide lectures on whales, dolphins, and seabirds. Evenings feature live music, cabaret, theater, magic shows, and rock performances.
Family-Friendly
Kids can join Camp at Sea (ages 3–12) or Teen Club (13–17). Families can book connecting cabins or suites that sleep up to 10.
Accessibility
Wheelchairs and scooters are allowed, but limited accessible cabins mean early booking is recommended. Some ports like Geiranger may be tricky for wheelchair users due to floating piers.
Sailing on Celebrity Apex is a mix of stunning natural scenery, luxury, fun, and adventure—perfect for those who love cruising in style.
