When it comes to road trips, most people think of coastal drives or mountain roads. But according to a new study by Tripadvisor, the most scenic drive in the U.S. is none other than the iconic Route 66.
Stretching over 2,400 miles and crossing eight states, Route 66 topped the list with 2.3 million Instagram posts, making it the most photographed road trip in America. Known as the “Mother Road,” it holds a special place in U.S. history and pop culture.
First established in 1926, Route 66 served as a key travel route during the Dust Bowl era and was later celebrated in films, books, and music — including the famous song “Route 66” sung by Nat King Cole and The Rolling Stones.
Coming in second place was the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia and North Carolina, followed by Willamette Valley in Oregon. California’s Pacific Coast Highway and Maui’s Road to Hana rounded out the top five scenic drives.
Even New York City’s Park Avenue made the list at No. 6, showing that scenic beauty can exist even in the middle of skyscrapers.
So if you’re dreaming of an all-American adventure filled with nostalgia, Route 66 is the road to hit next! 🛣️
