Penticton, in the South Okanagan Valley of Canada, is one of only two cities in the world located between two lakes: Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake. Known for its beautiful views, award-winning wineries, craft breweries, and outdoor activities, Penticton is perfect for a relaxing yet adventurous getaway.
Day 1: Lakeside Stay and Dinner
We stayed at the Penticton Lakeside Resort, a large hotel with 273 rooms, a pool, gym, restaurants, and a private beach. For dinner, we walked to Salty’s Beach House along the lake, enjoying the sunset while dining on diverse dishes from burgers to sushi.
Day 2: Cycling Through Vineyards
We rented e-bikes to ride the Kettle Valley Rail (KVR) trail, a scenic route passing local wineries and vineyards. The Little Tunnel lookout offered stunning views of the valley. Along the way, we sampled local wines and beers at places like Lock & Worth Wine and Abandoned Rail Brewery. Dinner was at Elma, Penticton’s only Turkish restaurant, where we enjoyed meze, cheese pide, and grilled octopus.
Day 3: Kayaking and Wine Village
We went on a guided kayak tour on Vaseux Lake, home to migratory birds, enjoying calm waters and wildlife. Afterward, we visited District Wine Village, Canada’s first wine village, with nine wineries, a brewery, distillery, bakery, bookstore, and coffee shop — all in a circular layout with a central plaza.
The trip ended with dinner at the historic Naramata Inn, built in 1908, where the seasonal Bistro Lapin Perdu offered locally sourced dishes and delicious desserts.
