Yelp has released its 2025 list of the 25 Best New Restaurants in the U.S.. The list highlights some of the most exciting places to eat, from Bangkok-style street food in Los Angeles to cozy bistros in New York. This year, chefs are focusing on open-fire cooking, tasting menus, and creative takes on global comfort food.

Topping the list is Dōgon in Washington, D.C., led by James Beard Award-winning chef Kwame Onwuachi. His Afro-Caribbean roots inspire the restaurant and combines Nigerian, Jamaican, Trinidadian, and Creole flavors.

\Located inside Salamander DC, Dōgon’s celestial-themed design is inspired by astronomer Benjamin Banneker and the Dōgon people of West Africa.

The menu features a mix of rich flavors, including hoecakes with crab, Berbere roasted chicken with jollof rice, curry branzino with zucchini and callaloo, and barbecue greens with candied cipollini.

Desserts like rum cake with vanilla whip and Cherries & Cream wowed visitors. Drinks by mixologist Derek Brown include creative cocktails, Black-owned spirits, and zero-proof options.
