For 143 years, the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad has taken passengers on a scenic journey through San Juan National Forest. The ride is especially magical in fall, when the cottonwoods turn bright yellow and orange.

The train travels from Durango, a classic western mountain town, through Colorado’s alpine region to the historic mining town of Silverton. This autumn ride is a great way to enjoy Colorado’s changing seasons, stunning landscapes, and learn about the area’s history.
