In Taiwan’s quiet Chishang township, there is a simple road called Mr. Brown Avenue that has become world-famous. At first glance, it looks like an ordinary country road—just a 1.4-mile stretch with rice fields on both sides and no poles, no street lamps, nothing fancy. But its calm beauty is exactly what makes it special.

The road first became popular when Mr. Brown Coffee, a ready-to-drink coffee brand, filmed a commercial there. People loved the open views of rice paddies and golden sunlight, and soon travelers started visiting just to see this peaceful place. Today, a statue of the smiling Mr. Brown mascot welcomes visitors.

In 2013, EVA Air made the road even more famous when actor Takeshi Kaneshiro appeared in a commercial biking along it. He called the scenery “paradise,” and the lone tree he stopped under became known as the Takeshi Kaneshiro Tree. Thousands of tourists began visiting daily, and the road became a symbol of Chishang tourism. Even when the tree fell in a typhoon, it was saved and restored by experts.

Visiting the road today feels magical. Travelers often rent bikes or electric surreys from Chishang Railway Station to explore the fields. Many stop for a can of Mr. Brown Coffee, making the experience even more fun.

Chishang is also famous for its rice and has lovely local restaurants, art museums, and quiet gardens. Visitors often leave feeling refreshed, as the area offers peace far away from city life.
