When you’re tired, hungry, and don’t feel like cooking, chefs know exactly where to go. We asked a few Bengaluru chefs what they order for comfort food, and their choices are mouth-watering!

Joonie Tan (Kopitiam Lah):

  • Loves the Buff Congee at Phobidden Fruit, Indiranagar — warm, soupy, and perfect on a rainy day.

  • Also enjoys Chicken Biryani from Nagarjuna — spicy, flavorful, and filling.

  • Her other favorite is Green Curry Fried Rice from Thai Basil, Koramangala — fragrant and comforting.

Rajat Alve (Fireside):

  • For him, comfort food is about home. He loves Kanthara Chicken at Dolphin’s Bar, Cox Town — smoky, spicy chicken cooked in banana leaves.

  • At Mangalore Pearl, Ulsoor, his favorite is kube mutli — rice dumplings with clam curry. He also enjoys neer dosa with ghee roast.

  • On biryani days, he orders Mutton Biryani from Savoury, Frazer Town.

Kanishka Sharma (NAVU):

  • Starts his Sundays with a Butter Croissant from Honoré Bakery, Indiranagar, paired with coffee and music.

  • At The Filter Coffee, Indiranagar, he enjoys Rava Upma with sambar and chutney — simple, homely, and nostalgic.

  • He also loves meals from Bengaluru Oota Company, Cambridge Layout, especially their mamsa pulao, pumpkin palya, and chicken curry — food that feels like home.

Independent Chef Gautam Krishnankutty:

  • Known for bold Southeast Asian dishes. His Hainanese Chicken Rice and Bo Zai Fan are comfort food that people wait eagerly to try.

So, when chefs want to relax, they turn to simple, soulful food that reminds them of home and happiness.
