England has finally stepped into the world of luxury train travel with Britannic Explorer, A Belmond Train. Nicknamed “Bex”, this is the country’s first luxury sleeper train, giving passengers a stylish and relaxing way to see the British countryside.
About the Train
Britannic Explorer has 18 cabins – 15 suites and 3 grand suites, each for two people. The design is elegant, inspired by the beauty of Britain’s coasts and countryside. The train was once the Belmond Grand Hibernian in Ireland but has been beautifully reimagined for England.
Routes and Journeys
Currently, there are three itineraries – Lake District, Wales, and Cornwall, with a mystery fourth route coming soon. Each journey lasts three nights, starting from London. Prices begin at £6,300 per person for a suite and £15,300 per person for a grand suite.
Cabins and Comfort
Suites feature cozy beds, stylish décor by designer Luke Edward Hall, small but elegant bathrooms with luxury toiletries, and wide windows to watch the countryside roll by. The grand suites are double the size, offering butler service and spa treatments.
Food and Dining
Meals are designed by Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan. Expect local, fresh dishes like seafood in Cornwall or traditional Sunday roasts, along with creative cocktails and fine English wines. Dining happens in beautiful carriages that bring guests together.
Activities Onboard
The train focuses on wellbeing and relaxation. Guests can enjoy meditation, spa treatments, live music, and even DJ nights. Offboard activities include hiking, wild swimming, sailing, art tours, and gourmet experiences depending on the route.
