For 2025, Coopers Beach in Southampton, New York, took the top spot. Just 2.5 hours from Manhattan, this Long Island beach is famous for its white quartz sand, huge dunes, and beautiful scenery. It even has public transportation options like the Circuit electric cart, making access easier.
Dr. Beach said Coopers Beach is shielded from cold currents and is backed by large dunes with beach grass and mansions. While parking is pricey, the beach offers a perfect getaway, especially in September, when the summer crowds have left but the water is still warm.
