Siesta Beach in Siesta Key, Florida, has officially been named the best beach in the U.S. on the World’s 50 Best Beaches list. It also ranked as the 12th best beach in North America!

Why Siesta Beach Is So Special

Siesta Beach is famous for its soft, white sand made of 99% pure quartz. This sand comes from the Appalachian Mountains and stays cool even on hot days, making it perfect for barefoot walks.

The water at Siesta Beach is also calm, clear, and shallow—great for swimming or just relaxing. Unlike many other Florida beaches, there isn’t a lot of construction around, so it still feels peaceful and natural.

Travel expert Suze Renner called the sand “powdery white and incredibly fine,” adding that it’s one of the things that makes the beach truly special.

A Beach Lover’s Paradise

Siesta Beach also got praised for being:

  • Easy to enter

  • Not too crowded

  • Usually calm

  • Often picture-perfect (“frequently idyllic”)

The beach has great weather all year, with temperatures between 70 and 90°F and fewer than 10 rainy days each month. It’s also known for amazing sunsets and even dolphin sightings!

Earlier this year, Tripadvisor also named it the No. 1 beach in the U.S. and the 4th best in the world.

Kelly Defebo from Visit Sarasota County said, “Siesta Key has the ultimate laid-back beach vibe. The sunsets here are unforgettable.”
