Janot is a new restaurant in Panjim Gymkhana, Goa, started by award-winning chef Avinash Martins. Unlike other places, you can enjoy your meal while watching a live cricket match right outside the window!
The restaurant is beautifully designed with green plants, earthy colors, and cozy seating. It has a mix of indoor and terrace seating with views of the cricket ground and Mandovi River. There’s also a small garden where Avinash grows herbs, vegetables, and even a dwarf cashew tree.
The menu focuses on top-quality ingredients—local and international—and mixes flavors from Goa, Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Some highlights include vegetarian croquettes made with tender coconut, seafood dishes, pork belly with risotto, and juicy tiger prawns in a fried plantain basket.
Drinks are simple but refreshing, with options like feni-based cocktails and a celery-strawberry cooler. Desserts weren’t available on the visit day, but the menu promises sweet treats like raw honey flan and chocolate-orange marquise.
Though the food still has a few ups and downs, Janot promises an exciting food journey in Goa.
