There’s no sound more like summer than the jingle of a Mister Softee truck. For over 60 years, these ice cream trucks have been a big part of East Coast summers. Mister Softee started in 1956 in Philadelphia and is now based in New Jersey. Even though it’s a classic brand, it’s moving with the times — it now has an app!
What Does the App Do?
The Mister Softee app shows you where the trucks are in real time! You don’t even need to sign in — just open the app, click “Skip,” and see all the trucks near you on the map. Tap on a truck to see how long it’s been out and what’s on the menu.
The app is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

When someone used the app on a Tuesday, here’s what they found:

What to Know
Even though the app is cool, not all Mister Softee trucks are shown on it. That’s because each of the 350 franchise owners has to choose to be part of the app. So, some trucks might still surprise you with their jingle!
The app was first launched in 2020, but it just got a new update this month and is now more popular than ever.
One happy app user shared, “We couldn’t hear the truck anymore, so we used the app — and boom, there it was! My dad even said he’ll download it too!”
