For the first time, visitors can now stay overnight inside Australia’s famous Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. These massive rock formations were created over 500 million years ago and are among the country’s most iconic natural wonders.
The Tasmanian Walking Company has introduced a five-day guided trek through the national park. The walk starts near the huge domes of Kata Tjuta and continues across the desert to Uluru. Each group has only 16 people, offering a private and relaxing experience. Guests can enjoy eco-luxury lodges, wellness treatments, and amazing stargazing.
This year also marks 40 years since the Anangu people were given back the rights to the land. The Tasmanian Walking Company worked closely with the Anangu to create this journey. Along the way, Anangu guides will share traditional stories and culture.
“Our people have lived here for over 30,000 years,” says Tapaya Edwards, chair of the Anangu Steering Committee. “We are proud to welcome visitors and share our culture.”
Visitors will not only see beautiful landscapes but also learn about the world’s oldest living culture. The park also features Wintjiri Wiru, the world’s largest permanent drone show, which tells ancient stories in the sky. Guests can also enjoy award-winning food that blends native ingredients with modern Australian flavors.
