Outlook Beach is a quiet and beautiful beach in Hampton, Virginia. It’s not as crowded as other beaches, and it’s full of history and natural beauty. Located by the Chesapeake Bay and at the base of Fort Monroe, this beach is a great place to relax and learn.
A Beach With a Story
Outlook Beach is special because it’s next to Fort Monroe—the largest stone fort in the U.S. This place is important in American history, especially during the Civil War. It’s also known as the first place where Africans arrived in the U.S. in 1619.
Best Things to Do
The beach is open every day from sunrise to sunset. It’s a perfect spot to enjoy a peaceful morning walk or to watch the sunrise. You can also go swimming or kayaking in the calm waters.
Want to relax? Bring a picnic and enjoy the golden sands. There are shaded areas where you can sit comfortably. Lifeguards are usually on duty in summer, and you’ll find parking and restrooms nearby.
Dogs aren’t allowed on the beach during summer months (May 15 – Sept. 15), but they are welcome on the nearby Fort Monroe Seawall Trail. This 3.6-mile trail offers beautiful views and is great for birdwatching.
