Montana’s spring doesn’t come all at once—it arrives slowly, starting from the low valleys and reaching the mountains as the snow melts. You’ll first see glacier lilies and arrowleaf balsamroot, followed by lupine, paintbrush, and beargrass in stunning colors.
When Do Wildflowers Bloom?
Kira Powell from the Flathead National Forest says flower bloom times depend on elevation. Lower areas bloom early, while mountain meadows bloom much later because of lingering snow. That means wildflower season in Montana can stretch from April to September!
