If you’ve ever grabbed a big block of brie at the last minute, you’re definitely not alone! Cheese has been around for more than 10,000 years and is still loved by millions around the world. But which countries love it the most?
A new list by Mintel shows the top 10 cheese-obsessed countries. They looked at how much cheese people buy, make, and even search for online! Every country got a score out of 100.
Who’s the Biggest Cheese Fan?
The Netherlands takes the top spot with the highest cheese searches and spending around $14 per person on cheese imports. That’s a lot of cheese love!
France came in second—even though they make over 246 types of cheese, many people there are cutting down due to health and environmental reasons.
Belgium imports a lot of cheese too, even though it only has 13 types of local cheese. The USA loves its homegrown cheese and doesn’t import as much but still made the top five.
Finland spends the most money per person on imported cheese, but fewer people search about cheese online. That’s why Sweden represents the Nordic countries instead.
